Rehearsed Output

Definition:

Rehearsed Output is the process of preparing and repeatedly practicing phrases that you are going to say before using it in a real life conversation.

Example:

Send a voice message to a native friend (or an imaginary one :) describing how your day/weekend was. Before jumping into recording, write the message in the most natural way possible using all kinds of resources available (internet, AI, your phrasebook, and a native speaker if possible…), and rehearse it until you can “speak” in the most natural way. If possible, receive a feedback from a native speaker.

Why it matters:

Many learners think that practicing speaking means jumping into real conversations. However, conversations are where you mostly use your speaking skills, not where you train them. If you are not able to speak in the first place, you will spend most of the time searching for words. Rehearsed Output lets you practice and simulate speaking in order to build speaking skills.
